Hello!  Researching how The Morrey township is connected (or isn't it??) with my family but I can't find manorial or tenant documents.  I am interested in the following docs listed on the Shropshire Archive website:

Farm and field plan X327/5/16/H/1/2 n.d.

Sketch - part of the Morrey Estate X327/5/16/A/8 n.d.

Valuation of Adderley X327/5/2/1/2/1 c 1789

Moated site, Middle Morrey, Moreton Say X6004/417/26

Is it possible for someone to do "look-ups", please??  For copies I am assuming there is a charge?  I'm happy to pay.  Appreciate any help.

Hello Joy

I note that you live in the USA and bearing in mind the size of the plan I think the best way for you to obtain this information is to contact Shropshire Archives direct and quote the references you have.  Ask them for an estimate of the cost of emailing you photographic images of the documents.

Have you noticed that the first two documents, the farm and field plan and the sketch, are undated so it is not so easy to place them in their historical context.

There is a series of books titled: "Landed Estates and the Gentry: ..." and one of the series may interest you -

Landed Estates and the Gentry: The Market Drayton Area v. 3: An Historical Study of the Landed Estates of North-east Shropshire Paperback – 1 Oct 1999
by Anthony Ruscoe (Author)

This is available on Ancestry in the UK but is rather expensive.  You might just be lucky and find it on the US Amazon site.

Hi Mike,

Thank you for your response.  I will contact the Archives, as you suggest.  Thanks for the book recommendation also.  I'll be on the hunt for it!  Appreciate your guidance.
