Hello,

I am interested in finding Emily HAYWARD nee LLOYD, who I believe to be buried in Moreton Corbet Church, St Bartholomew's?

I have no idea when Emily died, she was born in 1858 in Coalbrookdale and married Frederick HAYWARD.

Frederick died in 1922 in Market Drayton. Emily was still alive in 1911, when Fred and Emily were living in Rochdale (well that is what is on the census - can't read the street name, looks like 14 Trafford Street?

Fred was a Butcher and Emily a Dressmaker.

Really looking to find out when Emily died and to confirm where she is buried and if Fred is buried with her.

Thank you for any information.

Hello Dave,

Based on no more than hunches and casual digging on FreeBMD http://www.freebmd.org.uk/

I see there is a death of an Emily M in Qtr Dec 1931 at Wem ref: 6a/785 about the right age.   The middle initial also corresponds to a marriage in Qtr Dec 1875 Wellington ref: 6a/1531 and possible birth, if correct, of Emily Mary LLOYD Qtr June 1857 Madeley ref: 6a/561.

But, even if correct, the death cert won't confirm her burial place.  You doubtless have evidence or information that she is buried at Moreton Corbet, but place of death may provide a clue.   You might wish to search for potential Memorial Inscriptions matching - following the link (top of page: "Online Databases" > search "Monumental Inscriptions" > enter surname).   There are however quite a number of Hayward entries and you will need to do further research before purchasing the relevant booklet (via "Shop" > Shropshire FHS Publications Catalogue").

Hope this does at least provide a useful line to follow.

David

Hello Dave

There is no known grave stone for your Emily and Frederick HAYWARD at Moreton Corbet (Note: only one 't') but that doesn't mean that they aren't buried in an unmarked grave.  Unfortunately the Shropshire Registers on Find my Past only come up to 1900 so you would need to visit Shropshire Archives in Shrewsbury to look at the later burial records where they are available on microfiche (unindexed) so you wouldn't need a Readers Ticket to look at them.

I am curious why you think they may be buried at Moreton Corbet when you know that Frederick died in Market Drayton.

There is no trace of them in the Market Drayton Cemetery Burial Register.

Do you have any information to tell you whether Emily died before or after Frederick? This would at least reduce the possible number of years for her death.

I note from their Marriage that Frederick was aged 24 and that Emily (full name Emily Mary) was 18.  There is a Death registered in the Wem Registration District Q4 1931 for Emily M. HAYWARD age 75 which would make her born about 1856 -  could this be your Emily?  Wem Registration District included Moreton Corbet until 1935.
