Hello, new member here. I have got William JACKSON, schoolmaster, on the 1841 census aged '65' living at Crudgington Green with wife Eleanor (60) and grandson William (2).
I wondered if there was any information about a school he might have taught at (Crudgington? High Ercall? ). It seems very close to the workhouse on the census.
I think I found his baptism on FamilySearch 1774 at Water Upton son of John JACKSON of Sleap. P00652-1. William and Eleanor had at least 7 children baptized Water Upton and High Ercall. Emma ('Amma' 1810) was my ancestor. She married carpenter John ELLIS at All Saints Wellington in 1833.
Any information about Jackson family of High Ercall or Sleap would be welcome. William's marriage may be to Elenor HOLLAND at Lilleshall 1803.
I am based in Suffolk. Went to Shrewsbury on a fact finding mission years ago before the Internet but did not find out much!

I am not 100% sure, but think Shropshire Archives hold some form of diaries from Waters Upton School, but they are not listed on their web-site, so it might be worth you contacting them to see if they hold anything, when from and what they contain.

Thanks HTH I will check them out.As William was about 65 in 1841 they would need to be quite early for him to be mentioned. I suppose there was a school there then perhaps attached to the church.I have also found  a John Jackson born High Ercall1777, carpenter who was married to Hannah, schoolmistress living at Berrington in 1851. May be connected.
