I read today with interest, on receiving the September 2014 publication, the story on Page 111 about Sir Gordon Richards, horse jockey.  As I spent my youth between Wrockwardine Wood and Oakengates knew of his fame and remember the Dispensary for Sick Animals that was opened in his name in Oakengates.  Sadly it is no longer there.  Anyone wishing to read more can find his life story on www.bloodlines.net.  I too know of the Champion Jockey pub in Donnington, also named after him.

The article made me wonder if anyone has done a family tree for Sir Gordon's family. As a child when he was at the height of his fame, I was always told that my mother was related to him somehow, and I did attempt to work out this connection but with no success. I look forward to any comments.
