Hello,

Just found an ancestor who was born in Neenton, Shropshire.  SAMUEL MOORE, bap. Mar. 11,1728.

Parents, JOHN and SARAH.  Would like to know about the family, were they born there, were they married there.  Any help appreciated.

Thank you.

Thank you Angela,

Maybe they were married somewhere else and wandered into Neenton.  I don't know what the difficulties were for wanderers in those days.  I know if you were destitute, they would try to send you back where you came from so you were not a burden to the local workhouse.

I'd love to, unfortunately that's a long way from Florida and I don't like being "patted down". Thank you very much for your searching.

Hi George, I have had a look on Family Search for you and found the following record for a John Moor ( no e) marrying a Sarah Amies at Astley Abbots in Shropshire on the 23rd of April 1719. Astley Abbots is about 7 miles from Neenton. When I next pop in to the Shropshire Archives I'll look up the registers for Neenton and Astley Abbots to see if there is any more information. Fingers crossed! Jason Key.

Jason, you are a jewel.  Thank you.  The "E" has been a pain for a long time, it comes and goes.  And JOHN is such a rare name ;-).  I found a JOHN dying in Ditton Priors , Apr. 1769 and wondered if it was the father or the son.  Back to the Family Search site.
