Hello All,

My research is coming along nicely and thanks to a fellow researcher here in Australia, along with lots of trawling the net, I am building an interesting story about my Gt Gt grandmother Ann, born in Lydbury North, who arrived in Australia in 1825.

Does anyone have access to the Archives regarding:

1 the workhouse at Lydbury North (under the jurisdtiction of Clun's Workhouse, I'm told) or

2 records at Walcot Hall which may identify either Robert OWEN or Ann as a servant there?

The relevant dates which may help show Robert marrying Mary MORRIS in 1793 and Ann's baptism in 1799. (both Lydbury North)

Robert's son died at Down farm, Lydbury North in 1830 and we don't know what happened to Robert snr.

On his daughter, Ann's death certificate, Robert snr is described as an overseer, which Shropshire library advises was an employee of a workhouse, but another suggestion is that he was an overseer on a rural porperty...Walcot Hall?

Local knowledge and access to documents would be much appreciated.

Thanks so much for any info or advice,

Cathy

Hello everyone,

I am coming to Shropshire in July or August from Queensland and I am hoping to speak to someone who has local knowledge of Lydbury North. You can only do so much on the net!

Is there a 'local' who has some of Lydbury North's secrets?  :-)

I would love to maybe meet up at the pub or a cafe and pick their brain, perhaps.
