I have found some archived PRs for Newtown, Wem, but they finish too early for me. Does anyone know whether the registers from about 1836 are still at the church? I'm looking for a baptism of William Williams born 1836-8, son of Thomas and Mary Williams.

Hello Mike
Whilst the Newtown (Wem) Baptism registers after 1812 don't appear to have been deposited at Shropshire Archives to date they do have a fiche copy of the original register and a transcript 1813-1906 which should solve your problem. I don't know whether the transcript is indexed but it will only take you a few minutes to search such a short period.
