I am trying to find out who lived at Nethercott Cottage/Farm in 1939 register but it requires a street name.

Does/did that road actually have a name? I can't find one on maps, old or new, on internet.

At present postal address is Nethercott Cottage or Farm (as appropriate), Cleobury Mortimer, Kidderminster + Post code.

Can any one enlighten me please.

Thank you, Malcolm.

Hello Malcolm

Nethercott appears on the modern Ordnance Survey map 1 mile north of Neen Savage at map reference SO 676 786.  This road is most unlikely to have had a name so I am not quite sure how you are supposed to fill the search boxes for the 1939 Register.

I knew someone who lived close to Neen Savage church in 1939 who I have found on the 1939 Register.  If you go to the 1939 Register site and select the Advanced Search then scroll to the bottom of the search boxes to TNA Reference and enter 5199e in the Piece Number box then enter 003 in the Item Number box and click Search that will produce 34 results of people in that area.  I don't know whether the residents of Nethercott are included but you may recognise a name on the list if they are.

You will see that the above people are listed as living in Bridgnorth R.D. so an alternative which you might like to try is to enter Bridgnorth R.D. in the Borough / District search box and then click search.  This will bring up 230 results but strangely Neen Savage is not included so I really don't understand the logic of this search system.

Hi Mike, Thanks for replying.

I tried the Bridgnorth R.D. route but didn't find the results very enlightening. I couldn't find Neen Savage nor Cleobury Mortimer. The search engine is very obtuse if your request is even slightly out of the ordinary.

I'll try the TNA Ref No. you quote and see who is there.

I've searched Bridgnorth R.D. and Ludlow R.D. addresses and Nethercott doesn't show in either.

Cleobury Mortimer streets appear to be in Ludlow R.D. at least Pinkham and Ron Hill and The Hurst appear there.

My mother's family appear on 5199e 003 all of them, three are locked but two died in last seven years and one is still alive, so that's no surprise. I'll have to think about whether it's worth £6+ just to confirm address. I'm annoyed I can't find address. Ah well, such is life.
