Hi all, I'm looking for information on my Gt Gt Gt Grandfather John MONTFORD. He was born c1820 in Market Drayton and married on 1st Sept 1844 to Jemima PRUDENCE. I believe he was a carpenter by trade. I have their marriage certificate and his father was also John Montford born c1791 (nothing known of him yet?!). Her Father is unknown (the dreaded blank line!) I think John Montford (born 1791) was married to an Elizabeth RODEN but this is unconfirmed as yet. Any information would be very greatfully received. Many thanks Lisa 
I can confirm that John MONTFORD married Elizabeth RODEN on 18/08/1809 at Mkt Drayton.

Why do you believe John MO(U)NTFORD was a carpenter? What is his occupation on his marriage certificate?
Have you found him in the census 1851 onwards? I note there is someone who appears to be your John MO(U)NTFORD living in Sedgley in 1851 but he is described as a bricklayer.
