I am trying to trace a family member who was buried in Lower Bronden, Ludlow.  However, I cannot locate anywhere with that name.  If anyone here has any knowledge of it I would greatly appreciate your help.  Thank you so much.  Kashmir

Looking at my Foxall's Shropshire Gazetteer the nearest to "Lower Bronden" is "Lower Bromdon, Wheathill, Bridgnorth" which isn't that near Ludlow (8.5 miles). There isn't even a plain Bronden listed.
Where did you get this placename from? Are we able to look up the information you have on line to see if someone can read another placename out of it?

Hello

Let's try another way to sort it out. Give us the full name of the person, the date of death and/or burial and the name of the newspaper if you have it including the date of publication if possible.

Hello

I see that the death of your relative was in the Kidderminster (Worcestershire) Registration District in Apr-May-Jun (Q2) 1981 so she did not die at Lower Bromdon but maybe she lived there and was in the Kidderminster area for some reason at the time of her death.

As pointed out above Lower Bromdon is in Wheathill parish so there was a reasonable chance she might have been buried there but when I looked at the Burial Register earlier today there was no trace of her burial so you are now down to a guessing game which is not helpful.  I suppose there is a possibility she could been buried in Ludlow Cemetery or she could have been cremated at Shrewsbury or elsewhere.

I think the only way you are going to make any progress is to have the local newspapers of the time searched for a report of her death and the full details of the obituary in the hope that one or other of these mention where her burial was to take place.

Mike, thank you for being so helpful with my search.  I have some new information that she may have been buried in Clee St Margaret.  Do you know if there is a way for me to confirm that?  Thank you

Hello

I have now been able to confirm that Mary Elizabeth Janet SMITH is buried in Clee St Margaret churchyard. There isn't a grave stone but her grave is marked by a simple wooden cross without any identification.  The grave is situated at the extreme west corner of the churchyard.

I have the name of the cottage that her parents used to live in and also the names of her two children. If you don't have those send me an email direct to < mike at mjhulme dot fsnet dot co dot uk >.  One or both of her children is known to visit the grave occasionally.

I have discovered the additional information that she was killed in a road accident on Clee Hill in 1981.  My guess is that she was taken from the accident site to Kidderminster Hospital where she died and that explains why her death is registered there.  There will have been considerable coverage of the accident in the local newspapers and the subsequent Inquest which will probably have been held between one and two months after the accident.  Note the Inquest will have been held where she died not where the accident occurred so the Inquest will have been at Kidderminster.  The Inquest will no doubt have been reported in both the Kidderminster and Shropshire newspapers.
