My great grandfaher, John A. Jones, was born in 1862 in Shropshire, Hope, England my aunt says. He married Mary Anderson from Kent, Woolwich and they had at least five children, John, Jr., Esther, Beatrice (my grandmother) Harry and Herbert, who were bron in Witchwood before the whole family emigrated to Iowa in the United States. If this sounds familiar to anyone, I would love to hear stories that tell me more about John and Mary. John's occupation in our family notes is shown as Groomsman.

The image of the baptism on 8th Sept 1861 of your ancestor can be seen on the Find my Past subscription web site but at that time he was only recorded as John JONES so the second forename must have been added at some later date. His parents were John & Harriet JONES of Lower Shelfield and the father was a Miner.
