Looking at the Uffington Parish church records I see that several people were from Hagmond Demesne can anyone tell me if this is another spelling for Haughmond Hill?

Many thanks

Hi Sandra, if you Google for Hagmond, you will see quite a few references to it, as being an alternative/historical spelling of Haughmond. A description for Demesne can be found on Wikipedia.

Thank you, would this mean the people were living ON Haughmond Hill or in the surrounding area?

For further clarification, Haughmond Demesne was an extra-parochial area within Uffington ancient parish until 1858, when it briefly became a separate civil parish before merging with Uffington CP in 1885.  Try googling the whole name for much more information.
