Hello, I have only just discovered you, and your site is very interesting. At long last I have made a start on my relatives. I have discovered that my Great Grandfather, Alfred DAVIS married a Elizabeth GARBETT from Cleobury North. She moved to Birmingham with her two brothers Charles and Benjamin GARBETT. Alfred and Elizabeth had one child Harold George Davis, my Grandfather. I have traced back to Elizabeth's parents George and Eliza GARBETT. Both were born in Ditton Priors. There seems to be a fair bit of history in this area regarding The GARBETTs. I think their parents were Thomas and Maria. Thomas was born in Ditton Priors and later returning to die there. Whilst Maria was from Cleobury North. If correct there parents were John GARBETT 1779-1851 and Elizabeth GARBETT 1776-1817. If I have the correct info and being new to this. Where do I start for proof please? Has anyone else researched The GARBETTs in Ditton Priors and Cleobury North? Has anyone else got anymore information, please? I know there is a church at Ditton Priors and Cleobury North. So I could visit and look at grave stones. I am not sure if there is more than one burial site/cemetery for St John The Baptist at Ditton? This is the start of a long but rewarding journey for me. I have already found out that my grand father Harold George died age 29. Also that my father (deceased) had another younger sister who died aged 19. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your time, Keith.

Hello Keith

With regard to the possibility of grave stones, if you go to 'Online Databases' on the blue bar higher up this screen you will find the top one is 'Monumental Inscription'. If you enter a surname you will get a list of all the burial grounds in Shropshire where that name appears in a transcript.  You can buy copies of the transcripts from the Shropshire FHS - see 'Shop' above right then the top option 'Shropshire FHS Publications Catalogue'. Selecting this gives you a link to SFHS_Publications.pdf which lists all the Shropshire Parishes with details of what is available for each.
