My 2x grt grandmother was Eliza RUSHTON, born in 1839. All census records state she was born in Shropshire (one says Wellington, another Ketley). She married Richard CLARKE in Sheffield in 1861. On the marriage certificate her father's name is Horatio RUSHTON.
I am trying to find out more about her before her marriage - her parents/where she is from/siblings. She may well be related to Maria RUSHTON and Caroline RUSHTON as these two names crop up in letters/awards presented to them etc that I have evidence of. I would love to trace her and push this line back at least one generation but she and her father are proving to be hard to find! Willing to share information on her husband and children if that helps anyone.

Hello Clare, I also have RUSHTON's in my famille, my 3gg grandfather was Jonathan Rushton Oliver born 1806 Dawley Magna I believe his mother was Jane RUSHTON. Looking at a cd for Dawley there seems to have been RUSHTON's living there for over 100 years. Jonathan moved to Pensnett Staffordshire his brother Abraham Rushton Oliver also moved to Pensnett but eventually emigrated to America. Vanessa
