Hi everyone,
My great-great Grandfather, Isaac PALIN was listed as living at Chattam Barracks, Lilleshall from 1871 right through until 1901. I've been looking for where these barracks were for months but with no success. I realise the boundaries of Lilleshall and the surrounding areas have changed with the expansion of Telford making this a more complicated task!
It would be great to have some information about the location of these homes.

It seems there was was plenty of barrack type housing in the Lilleshall/Donnington Wood area however there is no mention of Chattham Barracks specifically.

Chattham Barracks were more or less adjacent to the road that runs from Asda Donnington up to the old A5. Near Lodge Road. If we can exchange email addresses I can let you have further details as my family are also descandants of Isaac Palin. Hope to hear from you soon

If you do a search on 'barracks lilleshall' (without the quotes) you should find a few references and in particular British Online History and RootsChat dot com where you will find the name Waxhill Barracks with some date references. It might also be worth trying the search with the words in a different order.
