As a newcomer to this subject I would be grateful for any advice on the following matter.
1861 Census shows Sarah Brayne working as a dairymaid on her grandfathers farm in Ellesmere. Her status is shown as single and her father as Thomas Price.
However my 2 x great grandfather Thomas Brayne 1796-1870 is also shown as her father on the Ancestry.co.uk site records pages (from other users research).
Am I missing something obvious here ?
Thanks in advance for any hints/help

Hello Gary
On the 1861 census Sarah is the granddaughter of the head of the household. She is not necessarily the daughter of the Thomas PRICE shown immediately above her especially as he is shown as single. He may well be her uncle.
She is more likely to be the daughter of a daughter of the head of the household Edward PRICE who married someone called BRAYNE so you need to look for a marriage of Miss PRICE to Mr BRAYNE and then see if you can fit Sarah in as their daughter.
I haven't looked at the other reference you found.
