Hi my names Natasha and I'm trying to help my mum get in contact with the family of her deceased father Sidney BATES born 28 January 1928 in Wellington Oakengates. From research I've done he comes from a large family of 11 children and I would to know if any one has information on him, and Lynn's mum Dianna Valentine BATES née FORTI. Thanks for that admin, I didn't read all rules and I understand why you have them. I've done further research and I believe Sidney (deceased) was 1 of 11 children with a set of girl twins in there. Some of his siblings may still be alive so I won't name them. Thanks Natasha and Lynn
Hi just to update with new information I've found. Deanna Valentine Bates née Forti travelled to Oakengates shortly after marrying Sidney Bates in Tel El KEBIR Egypt with their 2 month old son James H Bates in 1948. She gave this address 37 Walton Ave Oakengates. This would of been 48 and the baby died shortly after arriving in Oakengates and I believe he is buried there.

Found more info. Parents names John Herny bates and Eva M Bailey address on the 1939 census is 7 church street Oakengates. Brothers and sisters names are
mothers maiden name IS Bailey - just to confirm ...

Hi Tasha-LynnBates. I run a Oakengates History Group via Faceook. It has over 6000 members. People often ask on the group for help with their Family Tree Research. There may even be some people within the Group that are connected with your Family Line. Also a big plus is that there are many thousands of old photos of Oakenagtes and the surrounding areas that have been posted by myself and by members. I do know there are a few of Church Street, Oakengates. The Facebook group name is “Oakengates History Group including surrounding areas”
The other areas covered are St Georges, Ketley Bank, Wrockwardine Wood, Wombridge, Priorslee, & Trench.
