First. You say that this John was born in Shrewsbury. Have you found him in 1871 Census? You quote a FreeBMD reference for Atcham District; but until 1871 the five ancient parishes of Shrewsbury (and their 19th century "daughter" parishes (plus Meole Brace) formed the separate Shrewsbury District.

So are you sure that your reference is correct - and there are two John Williams registered in Atcham in December quarter 1868.

Next, go back into FreeBMD, click on the blue name of the District, then on the final, blue "here"; and you will see how impossible is your request that a volunteer might look up any of almost 40 parishes for you.

In any event he baptism will not give you the mother's maiden name, if that is what you are after.

It could cost you up to £50 to have a search done by Archives's staff. Buying the birth certificate (if it is the right one) has to be cheaper.

I have now connected this posting with the earlier one about George Williams. Following on from Michael Hulme's correction of your reading of John's age at 1871 Census and the date of that Census, the FreeBMD entry that you need is surely this: John Williams December quarter 1869 Shrewsbury District 6a 668. Not Atcham as explained above.

If you still want a search for his baptism at St Julian's or Holy Trinity you can ask at archives@shropshire.gov.uk . Minimum fee now £5-00. But this still will not give the mother's maiden surname.
