Evening,

A friend recently aquired a private census of the Alberbury area. Even if you don't have a connection with those mentioned or the area it still makes fascinating reading as it records personal details rather than the vital statistics you will find in the civil census.

It can be found here:

SFHS WebMaster (not verified)

Thank you David for pointing this out, it's a great insight.

What a fabulous document, thank you David.

Wish I had Alberbury relatives now!

David:

Where is the original of this private census now located? (Is it in the Shropshire Archives, and if so, do you know its catalog number there?)

The pages that are on line do not show their back-sides. I wonder whether on the back side of at least one of them there might be some wording -- wording suggesting authorship or other clues as to its origins and purpose.

I am comparing this private census with another private list of certain people in the same ("Wattlesborough" or "Alberbury") area in the mid-1860s. Any information you can provide as to the above would be helpful.

Thanks!                                                            Vincent Walsh
