Researching the BALCH / BELCH family
My family came to Shropshire sometime in the early 1700s from Somerset. My 7x great grandfather John BALCH was born in Frodesley in 1720. He then moved to the Alberbury / Ford / Cardeston area where his son James BALCH (1750-1809) had ten children, the eldest of which John BALCH (1774) had nine children including Hannah BALCH (1802), who had an illegitimate son Richard BALCH (1816-1886) who is my 3x great grandfather. His son William BELCH (1850-1912) ended up moving to Lanchashire after a spell in Rodington.
I have quite a lot of family history already including the various families that the generations married into, e.g. EVANS, CARSEWELL / CASEWELL, MAIDEN, PURSLOW, BASSETT. I have put as much of my ancestry as possible onto Familysearch
I'm obviously keen to hear from anyone with connections, but what I'd love to find out and I think it's a forlorn hope is identifying the father of Richard BALCH.
