I would appreciate a little help in solving a problem I've stumbled upon in my tree.

I have a Lancelot BRYAN b. circa 1556 who had 7 children one of which was Launcelott BRYAN baptised 01/04/1594 in Much Wenlock and buried 27/03/1634 noted as a "poor man".

I have found a series of magistrate sessions involving a Lancelot BRYAN taking place in 1620, 1634 and lastly in 1640. As the last session occurred in 1640, that was 6 years after Launcelott's death. However I have been unable to find any other Lancelot or Launcelott BRYAN's. Any help in addressing this date / name problem would be most welcome.

Additional info:

Lancelot BRYAN married Margarett Gryffys on 03/02/1582. they had 7 children.

Launcelott BRYAN married Elizabeth Dawley on 20/10/1621 they had 4 children.

All occurred in Much Wenlock.

Thank you.

HILL Family of White Mere Castle

Greetings,

I live in The State of Tennessee in the U.S. and am trying to establish a connection with several generations of the Hill family in Shropshire that supposedly emigrated to The Virginia Colony at Jamestown and a later ancestor that was supposedly born in 1608 in Shropshire and sailed in Lord Baltimore’s expedition on The Ark & The Dove to found the Maryland Colony in 1633. The first Hill to have emigrated was Sir Knight George Hill of Court of Hill &Blore who was born in 1545 in Ellesmere Rural, Shropshire and died in 1610 At Jamestown, Virginia. Other Hill family members that supposedly emigrated to Jamestown Colony were COL Sir Knight Richard Robert Hill I who was born in 1570 in Shropshire and died in 1631 in Hampton City, Virginia. His son CAP Sir Knight Richard Edward Hill II was born in 1590 in Shropshire and died in…

The PUGH's of Bishops Castle

I hope someone may be able to help. I'm seeking information on the PUGH family of BISHOP'S CASTLE around the years 1720-1770.

I am a PUGH living in South Yorkshire and 16 Years ago my father (now 91) said to me, “you know, we have a Welsh name, I was born and bread in Sheffield like your grandfather and I have no knowledge of anyone in my family every being Welsh”. So this has been my quest for a number of years now to find the first member of my family to come from Wales before my dad leaves us.

I have managed to trace family to Bishops Castle but I have not managed to go those last few miles over the border into Wales.

So far I have traced my family line working back from Sheffield, South Yorkshire to Bishop Castle with confirmed ancestry up to (I believe) Walter…
