Davis/ Edge family search

Hi, I am new to the site and am trying to find members of the Edge family who may be related to William Thomas Edge b: Jan 1946 and Barbara Joy Edge (nee Davis) who married in 1966 at the Methodist church on Hadley Park Road, Wellington. Additionally, any members of the Davis family who may be related to Edward O. Davis b: 5/5/1907 who married Kathleen A. Davis b: 20/04/1908 (nee Weaver) in Apr 1931.

I would be very grateful for any help with my family tree. Thanks in advance.

Barbara Joy EDGE (DAVIS)

Hi, everyone,

I am researching my family tree and trying to find more information about Barbara J Davis who was born around 1940 and lived in the Wellington area. She married William Thomas Edge in 1966. I would be very grateful if anyone can help. Thanks in advance.

Traveling to Shropshire

Good afternoon,

I am considering a fact finding mission in April/May next year. I have not traveled to England before, I think I would probably fly into Heathrow, but how would you suggest I get to Shropshire from London? I really do not want to drive, LOL I do good driving in the states, not sure about a foreign country and different driving condition. Is there a train between the 2? It appears as Astley Abbotts is quite small and that is where I would want to continue my research. Any advice would be appreciated. I would also like to visit St. Calixtus. Thanks,

Leslie

Hi Leslie. We visited in March of this year. We flew into LHR and then took National Express bus directly from LHR to Shrewsbury. We looked at the train, but we would need to get into London, then also change trains in Birmingham. We stayed at the Premier Inn in Shrewsbury and walked to the archives, train station (we took the train to Chester when we left) and did some sightseeing. Don't know how far from Shrewsbury are the places you want to visit, but if they are close perhaps a taxi hire for a day would work. If not, recommend renting a car from Shrewsbury...as a smaller town would make it easier to learn to drive on the "other side" of the road. Also, the 2 volunteers in the archives when we visited...were beyond helpful and intrigued with my search for a birth certificate for my great grandmother. Highly recommend a visit.

Samuel MARSHALL of Whitchurch

I am researching Samuel MARSHALL, who married Anne GREGORY in Whitchurch on 26 August 1784. They had at least one son, Samuel Gregory MARSHALL, christened in Whitchurch on 1 February 1786.

Samuel's father was Capt. William MARSHALL (1748-1812) of the 63rd and later 84th Regiment of Foot. I have been trying to track down the name of William's first wife, who is Samuel's mother. After she died William married Elizabeth GREGORY in Whitchurch on 29 April 1790. Elizabeth may have been related to William's daughter-in-law.

Church of England records indicate that William was buried in Whitchurch on 27 May 1812.

As well as Samuel's mother's name, I am hoping to find his birth or christening record. A potential difficulty is that Samuel may have been born elsewhere and moved to Whitchurch to marry Anne. (The GREGORYs were a Whitchurch family.)

I have also been unable to find death records for…
