Wrockwardine in the 1920s, 1930s - Houses - Nos 19, 20,21 Wrockwardine I live in Cardiff and visited Wrockwardine in the summer, helping my wife research where her grandparent’s family had lived in the 1920s & 1930s.   One address from the Electoral Rolls was “20 Wrockwardine”, one of a group of three terraced cottages, demolished in the late 1950s, we understand.  Three modern bungalows are located there now.


I just wondered if any Society members had any old photographs of the cottages, Nos 19, 20, 21, Wrockwardine , please?

Shrewsbury Register Office

Would anyone be able to tell me which building housed the Register Office in 1865. My great grandparents were married there and I hope someone local to Shrewsbury can help. Thank you in advance

Hello Andrea


I would GUESS that it might have been in the old Shirehall which was situated in The Square in Shrewsbury town centre from 1837 until 1971 when it was demolished. This building also housed the law courts.


If you do a search for 'Old Shirehall Shrewsbury' it should bring up some photographs.


To help answer your original question do a search for a Trade Directory for 1865 or about that time and hopefully in the entry for Shrewsbury you should find something helpful.

COXALL

I am a descendant of the COXALL family that resided in the WENTNOR area of Shropshire during the early 1800's, specifically CHARLES and MARTHA, nee DAVIES. Just wondering if anybody else out there is a descendant of the family?
