Researching HOME family Shropshire
I recently rejoined SFHS. I was born in Bristol, UK, but now live in Galilee, Israel. I’m researching my paternal ancestral line, family name HOME. I previously researched back to my 3xgreat-grandfather, Thomas HOME (born?; marr. 22 April 1790, Bishops Castle, Shropshire.)
I’m now hoping to go further back... My father, John Kenneth HOME (1914-1982, born in Britstol) told me that our HOME ancestors had lived in Shropshire for many generations; but were originally from Scotland. (according to family tradition, they had preserved the original spelling HOME, and the original pronunciation – as spelt – not “Hume” as in Scotland. In England the name has been spelt various ways: Holme / Holmes etc..)
