My great-great grandparents from Whitchurch, were married in Manchester Cathedral in 1863 which always struck me a curious. I've read that it may be because they did mass weddings and was cheaper, or alternatively that they asked few questions! Have anyone else found ancestors who married there, or know any more about the possible reasons?
I know of no reason why my ancestors shouldn't have been married in Whitchurch, so its quite puzzling!
