I am trying to research the Shropshire origins of my ancestor Henry Cotton, born Circa 1790s in or near Shrewsbury.  He emigrated to County Longford, Ireland in the Early 1800s to work as a groom for the landed KING-HARMON family.  Irish records being what they are, we know that he married LEONARD but do not know her Christian name.  Their son Peter COTTON was born in County Longford in about 1818.

The only Henry COTTON I have been able to find who might fit was a Charles Henry COTTON, born to unmarried mother Sara COTTON and Baptised at St Mary's, Shrewsbury on 16 February 1794.  Sarah COTTON had had a previous illigitimate child, Sophia COTTON, Baptised at St Mary's on 16 December 1793.

Trying to trace backwards, I found the Baptismal record (1765 in Astley (in St Mary's Parish)) of a Sarah COTTON, daughter of an Edward and Martha COTTON.

I would be grateful for any pointers anyone could offer.  Are there fellow COTTON researchers who have a missing Henry in their tree?  Does anyone know of a connection between the KING-HARMON famiy and Shropshire?  Etc.  many thanks in advance.
