Earlier this month, in partnership with Shropshire Council and their Archives and Libraries Service, The British Newspaper Archive announced the addition of eight new titles from Shropshire, alongside updates to eight of the existing Shropshire titles, with 288,672 images being added.

These newspapers include reports on many different topics such as village fetes, council meetings, crime reports, births, marriages and death details, often with obituaries. So why not check them out to see if they contain any information about one or more of your ancestors.

To view them you will either need a subscription to The British National Newspaper Archive (https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/ - there is a 25% time-limited discount until 30 September) or Find My Past (https://www.findmypast.co.uk/) or they can be accessed free of charge by visitors to Shropshire Archives or any of the 21 Shropshire Libraries. Please note that Shropshire Archives is currently only open on Thursdays.

For more details about which titles have been updated and which are new please see the BNA Blog at https://blog.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/2025/09/01/historical-shropshire-newspapers/.
