The next ‘Few Forgotten Women Friday’ event is taking place on 11 July. For these events a database is chosen and volunteers ‘receive’ a person from the list to research on the day and then submit a story to the website. However this event is slightly different and comes with a Shropshire connection.
The July event is contributing to the ‘Victoria’s Common Cohort’ project by Peter Burnhill, with the idea that volunteers research people born in 1819, the year of Queen Victoria’s birth.
Two parishes have been chosen: Wem and Wells Next the Sea. All the female baptisms from Wem PR (Plus January and February 1820), have been extracted, recognising that as it is a baptism it does not necessarily mean the individual was born in that year. There is a short overview of Wem and completed a sample story for Ann Ebrey which can be found on their website.
Information for the project, including the overview of Wem can be found at https://www.fewforgottenwomen.com/1819 and the story about Ann Ebrey is at https://www.fewforgottenwomen.com/_files/ugd/d63e92_cd80e740e7c546ebabce54d0fb731d3d.pdf
