About Our Monthly Meetings

The monthly meetings begin at 7.00pm where stalls and books, for browsing, will be on display, while the Talk starts at 7:30PM in the Main Hall of The Old Chapel Community Centre, Cross Houses, Nr Shrewsbury, SY5 6JH.
They are held on the third Tuesday of every month, excluding July & August, whilst the December meeting may have to be moved to another evening to avoid Christmas events, so please check on this web-site for up-to-date information.

There is plenty of free parking, all we would ask is that those who can easily walk a few hundred yards, would make use of the overspill car-park, adjacent to Shropshire Homes offices, leaving the 40 adjacent spaces (which includes designated disabled spaces) for our less able members..

On a usual evening, together with a Speaker in the Main Hall, in the large anteroom we have :-

  • A welcome desk.
  • 2 Bookstalls, one with Federation of Family History Societies Publications and another with Local Interest Books.
  • Microfiche copes of 1881 Census and the IGI.
  • A large selection of Journals from other Societies for browsing.
  • The Society's set of Shropshire Printed Parish Registers for loan to Members.
  • A Computer Helpdesk, manned before and after the Speaker, plus during, if required.
  • Society's CDs for Sale
  • The Committee and Helpers will have name badges to guide visitors to the correct person.
  • Following the speaker, we have cups of tea and coffee available from the servery.

Membership is open to anyone interested in family history and non‑members are welcome to visit one of our meetings, to become familiar with our activities.
