Thomas REECE - Gamekeeper

Researching REECE family history and my Great Grandfather is listed as a Gamekeeper on 1911 Census. He lived at Moat Cottage Stapleton. His son was also a gamekeeper Cecil (Cicil) George REECE. I also believe that the landowner he worked for was well known for breeding a rare breed of dog but don’t have any further details. Any information would be appreciated

Researching the BALCH / BELCH family

My family came to Shropshire sometime in the early 1700s from Somerset. My 7x great grandfather John BALCH was born in Frodesley in 1720. He then moved to the Alberbury / Ford / Cardeston area where his son James BALCH (1750-1809) had ten children, the eldest of which John BALCH (1774) had nine children including Hannah BALCH (1802), who had an illegitimate son Richard BALCH (1816-1886) who is my 3x great grandfather. His son William BELCH (1850-1912) ended up moving to Lanchashire after a spell in Rodington.

I have quite a lot of family history already including the various families that the generations married into, e.g. EVANS, CARSEWELL / CASEWELL, MAIDEN, PURSLOW, BASSETT. I have put as much of my ancestry as possible onto Familysearch

I'm obviously keen to hear from anyone with connections, but what I'd love to find out and I think it's a forlorn hope is identifying…

BULLOCK family

Hi, I am researching my mums family history and recently discovered that we are closely related to the BULLOCK family that came from Bridgnorth. There were 2 sons, James the eldest and Henry. Their mother was called Mary and father James. Their father was a shoemaker . There are some newspaper articles about both sons getting into some trouble with the law, stealing mainly but Henry went on to be convicted for bigamy. If anyone has any information or better still photos of the any of the family then I’d be very keen to see them. I believe Mary remained in Bridgenorth after her husbands death and her sons had moved away. She appears to live very centrally to the town centre .

Many thanks

Hello Judith

Gamekeepers required a licence / certificate so you might like to explore that avenue. I don't know any details but it might be worth exploring the Shropshire Archives web site.
