Hello everyone,
I have just joined this group and I am looking for information on the Fewtrell families. I have been able to find some references in the parish records. Mainly I am looking to find what church their grave sites may be located if possible. My mother and I hopefully will be able to make a trip to the area next spring or summer to visit the area. Thanks in advance for any information you can help me with.

Hi Gwynne,
What I have found this far, they would have been in the area from Bromfield, Bridgnorth, and Easthope.
I have found information in the St. Peter's Church records at Easthope regarding several Fewtrells. Also a Rowland Fewtrell located in the Downe, not sure if that will help or not. I am trying to link a Thomas Fewtrell Sr. to our Thomas Fewtrell (Futrell) Jr, that died in South Carolina circa 1760.
Hi Lindy,
My grandmothers father was Edward FEWTRELL born 1849 in Bromfield, Shropshire. His father was George Clegg FEWTRELL born 1819 in Sparchford, Diddlebury, Shropshire. His father was Edward FEWTRELL born 1791 in Diddlebury, Shropshire.
I don't yet have a Roland FEWTRELL in my tree
Any connection ?
Gwynne
Hi Gwynne
There maybe a connection at some point. There is a Edward Fewtrell that I have found born 1588 (his parents are John & Ann) in Ludlow parish, married a Elizabeth Crowther, his son Thomas I think is the Thomas SR., I am looking for.
There was a manor house in Easthope that was said to have belonged to the Fewtrells and a Crowther farm in the same vicinity, this is the information I have found in the paish records from Easthope.

Hi Lindy
I've found a baptism 6 Apr 1702 for "Thomas son of Thos Ffewtrell of Rushbury Town, Mason and Eliz his wife". Rushbury is around 5 miles from Easthope. Based on the date and age, could this be Thomas Jr?
Otherwise there's a Thomas son of Thomas Fewtrell/Fentrell baptised 26 Dec 1677 in Ellesmere. Ellesmere is 34 miles from Easthope.
These are the only 2 baptisms of Thomas son of Thomas Fewtrell born between 1670 and 1750 in the UK (that are available in the online parish records anyway). There are many other Thomas Fewtrells with fathers with other names.

Hi Lindy Fewtrell family
I hope you found the info you were looking for?
Just seen your note from some time ago (I am not too regular on the SFHS website!). My 5 times great grand father married Anne Fewtrell in Rushbury in 1762 making her my 5 times Great Grandmother. I believe it is alleged that there is an area in the village of Rushbury known as "Fewtrell's Field" but I do not know if this is correct. As stated previously Rushbury is near to Easthope. It is also thought possible that the family originally were named "Futural" but this was changed, perhaps because it has French connotations and in those years Britain was often at war with the French!
If you are still searching this connection may be worth a look?

Hi Lindy,
Welcome to the Forum.
Which part of Shropshire did your FEWTRELL’s live in?
I have FEWTRELL’s born in Diddlebury then Bromfield, Stanmore (London) and Bridgnorth.
