I am searching for a any record of the marriage of a Catharine Rowlands from Bicton, Shropshire in the parish of St. Chads. She was born to Phillip and Ann Rowlands (nee Jones) on 12 th Feb 1796 and baptised 27 th Mar 1796 in St. Chads Parish.
I believe she may have married a Richard Buckley and had 2 children who were Mary Buckley circa 1825 and then Richard Bukley circa 1829 both I think were born in Shropshire. I am not sure of the Christian Name of Richard for the groom but the surname would be Buckley.
Can anyone advise where I can search to locate a marriage in the local records?

Hi Michael, Now some info on Catherine's daughter Mary. And on her likley marriage she states her fathers name as being Richard Buckley.

Apart from their son James I can't find any further info on Mary or her husband James or their daughter Kate. So I think they could have well emigrated.

John, Thanks for your replies and the hard work you have done. My family history is something I have been doing for 30+ years and Wow I cannot fault your research at all. I agree totally with all of it.
My posting re the marriage of Catharine Rowlands to a Buckley was a little in desperation as the Rowland Family is basically that of Blacksmiths in and around Shropshire but particularly in Bicton and several generations including Catharine are buried in the old Church graveyard in Bicton - now unsafe to visit.
But her marriage to James Goodfellow and/or Richard or John Buckley in Shropshire have been a stumbling block for some time and so my post was to seek some help if anyone might know of records of marriages in Shropshire which have eluded me.
(Catharine Goodfellow nee Rowlands) or Catherine formerly Buckley nee Rowlands is my G G Grandmother down the line of her only Goodfellow son namely Henry Goodfellow b 29 Dec 1834 and baptised on the 9th August 1935 to James and Catharine Goodfellow in Marylebone, London where he is a listed as a Servant living at 12 Little Marylebone Street, Marylebone, London. This is the only known record of James Goodfellow!
Henry Goodfellow after his birth is found in Shropshire living with his Uncle David Rowlands etc all as you have confirmed and the same goes for Richard Buckley who will/must be his half blood sibling along with Mary Buckley. His line goes on via one of his descendants down eventually to myself.
Your research is spot on re the Buckley line and I had found all of it just as you have done but over a much longer period. However the Goodfellow line, going back, ends with James Goodfellow who has proved impossible to trace with any degree of certainity before his marriage to Catherine Buckley nee Rowlands. This is my main roadblock having taken my own family name back to 1454 in Shropshire and it is a major frustration to me.
How did Catherine or Catharine Rowlands or Buckley get to London and why as other details as you have found re James Medland is also in London etc. so to the nub is it Richard Buckley or John Buckley who marries Catherine Rowlands and where and how to develop James Goodfellow after 1834 or just as importantly before.
I thank you again for your research as its always good to have your own research confirmed and it woild be nice to be able to find the correct names of her marriage partners and be able to prove it so are their records hidden somewhere re Shropshire Marriages from 1800 to 1840?
