Shropshire Burials Index on CD-ROM (as of 29 April 2008) PLEASE NOTE That our stocks Shropshire Burials Index 3rd Edition have run out and rather than just getting more CDs pressed we are adding new entries to produce a 4th Edition but this will take some time and so ask you to be patient with us and await an update on this site and in the Society's Journal. The 3rd Edition of the SBI has now been produced and is available for ordering. This new edition of the index adds over 100,000 records to the well-received version 2. In addition to 100% coverage of the County between 1813 and 1837 there are over 80 parishes with earlier records and 8 with later. Non-conformist burials are also included.
The software now gives more choices of print out but retains easy to use surname searching and more advanced searching for greater flexibility when required.
A contribution of 160,000 records is now included in the second edition of the National Burials Index but the project progresses and SFHS volunteers have entered a total of 270,000 records. The details for the Shropshire Burials Index include abode, relationships, occupations and other comments in addition to name, date buried and age, where given. The cost for the SBI has been raised for 3rd Edition to £12 but members will still be given a 10% discount, £10.80. The good news is that anyone who bought version 2 can have the new Edition for £6 if they return their CD-ROM. Inland postage is included but postage will be added for overseas purchasers. Prices are $38 Australia, $49 New Zealand, $33 Canada and $22 USA. Other countries on request.
