Shropshire Archives volunteering opportunities

We also have a couple of vacancies for volunteers

From Andrew Davidson, Senior Conservator

We are looking for a volunteer with  tidy handwriting and a tidy mind to work on parish and other records.  The work involves writing progressive reference numbers in pencil and straightening out folded documents before filing them.  This task sounds deceptively simple; referencing requires a degree of concentration and discipline and the best of us make mistakes!  Ideally this would be done on a Thursday but other times could be considered. If you think you’d enjoy this kind of work apply to Andrew at andrew.davidson@shropshire.gov.uk or phone 01743 255358 .

We also have a vacancy to join the Tuesday cataloguing group, either for a full or half day. At the moment we are working on cataloguing parish records, and also inputting information from the Shrewsbury Deeds collection (6000 series). Some level of IT skill is required, but training will be given. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential.  If you are interested  please contact me, either by email or phone 01743 255356.

Please pass this on to anyone you think might be interested.

Regards
