National Burials Index
NATIONAL BURIALS INDEX - Version 2

Version 2 of the National Burials Index became available at the beginning of September 2004 and is available from our Society but anyone who purchased Version 1 can purchase Version 2 at a discount, but only by ordering direct from the Federation of Family History Societies.

For general information about the NBI v2 use this link and follow the various links from this page

If you purchased Version 1 of the NBI then you can obtain a discount if you order Version 2 but you must send your order direct to the FFHS and you must also send back Disk 1 and the Instruction Book from Version 1.  To go straight to the Order Form use this link
NBI Order Form.  Note that the order form is in Adobe Acrobat PDF format so you will need that program installed on your computer to be able to read and print the order form.
The Second Edition of the National Burials Index was published as a four CD set by the Federation of Family History Societies in September 2004.  The Second Edition has over 13 million records from 50 counties (13 more than v1) but not all have complete coverage of the target 1813-1837 period.  The CD's include records from a small number of parishes in various counties dating back to the 16th century.  Some counties in Wales still do not have any records in the Second Edition.  All English counties (except IoW) now have at least some entries.

Shropshire Family History Society contributed 84,647 entries to the First Edition of the National Burials Index and now have 168,000 in the Second Edition.  We will be adding to this for the next edition, whenever that is produced and would welcome help entering the data onto computer.

Although the Shropshire Family History Society is unable to undertake research for individuals, any queries relating to the Shropshire contribution, including further information such as abode and other details where given, may be sent vi email to: nbi @ sfhs.org.uk (Remove spaces to use).  This additional information is to be found on the Shropshire Burials Index CD-ROM - see the Shropshire page for details.

Additional information about the National Burials Index with details of other counties which are included can be found on the Federation of Family History Societies web site at www.ffhs.org.uk/General/Projects/NBI.htm
