Hello Pamey

Without more information from your family (you have checked with all your living relations?) you will probably have to rely on the newspapers but without a precise date you will need to hunt for any indexes that might exist to throw up your father's name. It might just be worth trying The T i m e s index for a start. This is a subscription site but you can almost certainly access it free of charge through your local library, possibly from home if you have a library card. If that doesn't work then you are going to have to have a trip to Shropshire to search for indexes. Start at Shropshire Archives in Shrewsbury.
