Hello,

I am researching the name of HOLLAND in Stottesdon and have a particular query with a John HOLLAND who married Anne SHEWARD in 1720. The records show there are 2 Johns, one born in 1690 and the other in 1697 and I don't know which one is "my" John.

Is there anyone else researching this line or who could give me any advice anyway. Please don't suggest visiting Archives/Records Offices as I live in Hampshire.

Thanks in anticipation

Julie

Hello Julie,

The following may help, but is not conclusive. It is based on a quick look on www.familysearch.org and www.findmypast.co.uk

I suspect that your ancestor is John bap. 1697. My thoughts are based on: John bap. 1690 may have died in 1691 as there is a burial record for that name in Parish Register. I cannot fully decipher the image of the Register on my computer, and so the original is worth further investigation. I don't think the burial record is for John's father, as there is a November 1692 baptism record for Eleanor, the daughter of John and Eleanor Holland. Also other children baptised in later years.

I see that John bap. 1697 was the son of John & Katherine Holland. It looks as though they married in 1695 in Kinlet and had several children baptised in Stottesdon.

Regards
