Been looking for Richard's wife Rhoda maiden name for 20 years now.  Had a couple of researchers on it.  Nothing.

Know their first child William was born in 1799, then Sarah 1801, Joseph 1805 Mary Ann 1810,Richard 1813, and Benjamin 1820

All was born in Dawley except Richard Brockmoor Brierley Hill. Staffs,

She is on the 1841 and 51 census with her children as Richard her husband died in 1833.

1841

Name:    Rhoda Wycherley
Age:    54
Estimated birth year:    abt 1787
Gender:    Female
Where born:    Shropshire, England
Civil Parish:    Dawley Magna
Hundred:    South Bradford (Wellington Division)
County/Island:    Shropshire

1851
Age:    70
Estimated birth year:    abt 1781
Relation:    Head
Gender:    Female
Where born:    Madeley, Shropshire, England
Civil Parish:    Great Dawley
County/Island:    Shropshire

Got her death cert.  6 May 1854.  Rhoda Wycherley Age 74 Widow of Richard Wycherley Puddler.  Cause of death decay of nature.

Cannot find her in Madeley so though she might have gone to her home place to have Richard in 1813 Brockmoor Brierley Hill. Staffs,

Can anyone suggest anything

Thanks

Hi Gena,

We've corresponded before via the Ancestry website, as Richard Wycherley born 1813 married Hannah Poole, who is possibly linked to my ancestry. As I cannot find baptisms of Richard's siblings on Shropshire Parish Registers published on findmypast nor on familysearch websites I'm wondering if they were non-conformist, assuming they were baptised.

My only other suggestion is to determine what source was used for "Select Births and Christenings, 1538-1975" that Ancestry have added to their database. This may give a clue as to the original source, which may narrow down where to search.

Best of luck

Phil

All the children were baptized I have copies on my tree.  Also years ago I looked them all up on the parish records.  The only mystery is why Rhoda had Richard b 1813 in Staffordshire?

Been looking through the Parish Records for Dawley and found

Rhoda daughter of John and Mary Bailey 7th Oct 1787 but that cannot be her as she would have only been 12 when she had her 1st Child.
