My great great grandfather Thomas PINCHES states on his attestation papers at Shrewsbury Castle on 8th December 1830 (he joined the 3rd Foot Guards of the Scots Fusilliers) that he was born in LYDBURY near Bishops Castle & that he was 20 years and 2 months old (in December 1830)
I have contacted the Bishops Castle Heritage centre, looked through the records on Family Search & Find my Past but I cannot find an exact match to Thomas or baptism records.
On a marriage certificate to Susannah Thompson in 1843 in London, he gives his fathers name as JOHN PINCHES, a labourer.
On the 1851 census, he is registered in London as a soldier & cook, aged 40, place of birth as Bishops Castle, Salop.
I live in Shropshire, and have been around the church at Lydbury north etc as the PINCHES name seems to cluster in & around Long Mynd & those villages.
I would appreciate any help in finding a baptism & definite family for my Thomas.

I couldn't find a baptism for a Thomas Pinches for the above couple.
But I think it's quite possible that their 2nd John baptised on the 2nd Oct 1810 could be Thomas.
The date closely matches both dates in Thomas' war records I've found.
I could not find a burial of any of their listed children in their early years.
Also I could not positively find any of them in any Cens' either.
And their is a lot of possible baptism's for John Snr Pinches his given age in cen's are up & down.
