My Great Grand Aunt Elizabeth THOMPSON married a William SUMMERS in Wolverhampton in 1863. In 1871 and 1881 censuses they are shown as living in Shifnal with the address noted as High Street (Tan Yard).

According to the census data there were 4 children; William Joseph (born 1869), Snodon C R (born 1871), Theresa Jane (born 1874) and Alloys (born 1876).

I have found some detail on an Alfred Aloysius SUMMERS born in Shifnal in 1873 and dying in the same year, not sure if he is another child

Looking for any information of when William and Elizabeth may have passed away and what happened to the children

My Great Great grandfather William Joeseph DIXON (b-Aug 5 1842, d-May 30 1909) was married to a Elizabeth J THOMPSON (b-Sept 14 1836, d-Aug 23 1920). They lived in Shifnal. He was a tanner. They had four children. William Joseph DIXON (b-1869, d-1954), Snowden Robert DIXON (b- 1870, d-1963), Theresa Jane DIXON (b-1873, d-1939), Aloycious (Alloy) James Henry DIXON (b-1875, d-1955). Will Sr. came to the USA in 1883 with his son Will Jr. Then in 1884 Elizabeth came over with Snow, Theresa and Aloycious. I believe they changed their last name from SUMMERS to DIXON once they got on the ship. I have the manifest for the USS Adriatic that has an Eliz, Snow, Theresa, and Ally DIXON listed with the correct ages.  I believe Richard Dixon SUMMERS (b-1799) was the father of William Joeseph DIXON (b-1842).  Aloycious is my great grandfather.

Hey thanks for that guys. Just today I went back to have another look at this and did a Google search and up this came. Much appreciated. Richard Dixon SUMMERS was indeed the father of William Joseph SUMMERS. Would love to swap some more notes if possible.

Mike just realised the e-mail I had associated with my account was an old one. Current one has now been added to account. Can you please pass on to Dwight? Cheers  Alan
