Hello all,
I'm in Canada, researching my GGGrandmother, Elizabeth SINCLAIR, who was born in Liverpool. Her father was John SINCLAIR and all census info I can find has his birth place as Prees, Shropshire.
John SINCLAIR's marriage certificate to Mary DAVIES has his last name SINKLER (with some overwriting to try to correct it) and has his father's first name as Thomas, a Tailor.
His daughter's birth reg is under SINCKLAR - so lots of variety on the spelling.
So - I am fairly certain that I have found his birth registration under SHINGLAR/SHINGLOR.
John SHINGLAR, born Aug 2 1818, in Prees, Shropshire, to Thomas and Elizabeth, tailor. (no. 346)
If this is the right family, then Thomas SHINGLOR married Elizabeth DONE in 1795 (FHL: 506791) and had at least 9 other children.
(Hugh 1810, George 1797, Joseph 1812, William 1805, Elizabeth 1807 & 1815 , Sarah 1821, Thomas 1803 & 1820.)
I have ordered John SINCLAIR and Mary DAVIES marriage certificate as well as their daughter Elizabeth's birth certificate but I was wondering if anyone has access to the actual birth records and could do a lookup for me to confirm this info and/or provide me with any additional info.
I have the parish entry but I'm wondering if the actual birth certificate might have more info. I would attach it, but I can't find a way to do that on this forum.
This is the source for the baptism on Ancestry, but they only have the index.
