Please, help needed.   Trying to trace any family history for John NICHOLLS b(orn) 1867 Forton, married 1898 Normacott to Martha Annie JONES (b 1824 Shebdon).
Worked as a Maltster at Springfield Malthouse and lived at 11 Spring Field Terrace 1911 and 1914. Would like to know what happened after 1914, was he still living/working there or had they moved?
My grandfather George Wilfred NICHOLLS, b 1914 at 11 Springfield Terrace, married Evelyn GRICE in 1935 in Aston Birmingham.

John NICHOLLS father was also John NICHOLLS b 1832 Edgmond/Tibberton, married 1860 Mary Anne YARDLEY, b 1832 Eccleshall. He was a gamekeeper somewhere in the area.
They had another child Thomas b 1862 Forton, 1901 Gamekeeper, 1911 Victualer at Wharf's Inn, Sheldon, Newport. Did he go to the Red Lion Inn at Ffrwd (now called the Ffrwd Inn)?

If anyone has any info on any of the above or any where/place i could look to research i would be most grateful.

Hello Jane

The Shropshire Quarter Sessions Index (available on CD-Rom from Shropshire FHS - see Shop top right then Shropshire FHS Publications Catalogue and download the PDF file) shows that a John NICHOLLS was a Gamekeeper in the Donnington area in 1878 and the brother of Thomas.

You can view the original papers at Shropshire Archives.

Springfield Terrace is on Station Road, Newport There is a Red Lion Inn at Sutton near Newport - could this be the Inn you mention, not far from the Wharf pub at Shebdon
