The image is a 'Probate' document for Rowland Niccolls died 1687. Is anyone able to 'translate' - ie does it mention a Will - or is the document Letters of Administration - ie NICCOLLs did not leave a Will?
Happy to have contact direct to my email - ken.woodgate@xtra.co.nz
Thanks Mike - I really appreciate your having the document translated. I thought I had checked the Wills on Family Search - without success - so knowing there is a Will I will revisit the FamilySearch films again
Ken
Hello Ken
I asked a friend to have a look at your image and together with the help of her husband they have transcribed it as follows:-
Administration of the goods of Rowland Nicholls esquire late of the parish of Pontesbury in the County of Salop and aforesaid diocese, deceased, with his will annexed, was granted to Orlando Nicholls, esquire, natural son and lawful heir of the said deceased & principal heir of the said deceased named in this testament. William Owen & John Wood, two executors named in this will have died. Charles Nicholls the other executor named in this will, under his own hand & seal, has expressly renounced. Sworn before Master Richard Bulkley, surrogate. 24 October 1687.
So, it' a grant of administration with will annexed.
Mike
