Hello, I am looking for either the burial or cremation details for my grandfather, Morris DOWELL (Also known as Maurice). He died 28th December in the Royal Shropshire Infirmary. At the time he was living at Cannister Cottages, Oswestry.

I tried to physically search the graveyard in Oswestry but realised it was a lot bigger than I thought! No luck but may have missed the grave if there was one.

Unfortunately the family were in Canada and were not able to come to the UK when he died. I really would like to find out where he is buried or was cremated.

Thank you

Mike

As you didn't mention the year of his death, I assume, it's your Maurice who died 1964 aged 82 according to the Death Registration list for Oct-Dec 1964 Shrewsbury Registration District. I have looked on the Oswestry Cemetery Project for a DOWELL burial from 1964 and there were no finds (just to check I put in JONES and found 16).
You are right it is big - 22,000 burials!

I guess you have seen the info on Ancestry and FindMyPast about him and his O/G & I/C Passenger List entries.

Yes. Thank you. Delay in replying sorry. You are correct. He died in 1964. His wife? Was Winifred (Winnie) DOWELL (nee DAVIES). I am not sure what happened to her either. I have a suspicion they were never married. Maybe he was buried with her??? Thanks again
