Mary Swanwick (she called herself Mrs in her cookery book of 1742/3) was probably the cook in a large establishment, even a great house (or so her recipes suggest) in the first half of the eighteenth century in North Shropshire (Market Drayton and Whitchurch area) or possibly further south around Shipton. Has anyone any information as to where she lived and/or worked?
