I am trying to find a marriage between my Ancestors. They were married I believe 5/5/1835 at St Chad Shropshire. Does anyone know where I might obtain a record of the marriage of William Perry and Mary Eyton.

Hello

You can view the original marriage entry on the Find my Past (subscription) web site <https://www.findmypast.co.uk/search/results?datasetname=shropshire+marriages&sid=103&firstname=william&firstname_variants=true&lastname=perry&lastname_variants=true&eventyear=1835&eventyear_offset=2&spousefirstname=mary&spousefirstname_variants=true&spouselastname=eyton&spouselastname_variants=true>

I'm not sure how much of this link will work if you don't have a subscription but it should take you to the correct area.

Thanks Mike but I am an invalid pensioner in Australia and I can afford to join that site

Hello

As you say the marriage took place on 5 May 1835 at St Chad's church in Shrewsbury. His full name was William Henry PERRY and he was of the parish of St Alkmond's, Shrewsbury and she was from St Chad's parish. They both signed. The witnesses were John EYTON and another person but I can't read the signature. No ages were given at that time.

The marriage was by Licence which suggests the family had sufficient money to pay for the licence and possibly they were getting married at short notice so was she pregnant?

If you are able to visit your local library or archives they may be able to provide you with access to the Find my Past web site as part of the service they provide.
