Hi
Could anyone help explain something to me regarding records ludlow v llanvair waterdine.
I am currently researching the ELLIS family of Ludlow 1800/1830s
They are a family of 10, John the head listed as Ludlow born his wife Anne listed as Norbury.
Of the 8 children most have two christening/babtism records where the one states Ludlow but the other states babtism Llanvair Waterdine, dates identical.
It's making it difficult to find actual church records as llanvair waterdine doesn't get listed in any of the diocese records . Come to that Norbury doesn't either.
Can anyone shed any light on that and maybe point me in the right direction. All very frustrating
Many thanks regards
Kinkon
Hi Michael
So far john,Jane ,James,Mary,Elizabeth, George, , 1827,28.32.33.35,37.
All have same ref numbers FHL
WATERDINE FHL1526928
LUDLOW FHL 918859
Being a novice I find it very confusing , the dates and information are exact
May be something simple, Anne ELLIS mother is only one listed on census as being born Norbury
Many thanks

Hello Kinkon
Unfortunately I can't use the film numbers to look at the film images over the Internet. You can only do this at a Family History Library.
The Llanfair Waterdine Baptisms 1813-1853 are in the Family Search Batch No: C033533 where there are 261 entries but again there are none for the surname ELLIS.
I just wonder if the film you have been viewing includes what used to be known as 'User submitted information'. Some of these entries may not actually have been obtained directly from original registers.
Looking at the Ludlow Baptism entries from the original register on Find my Past (subscription site or possibly free at your local archives or library) I can see your family all be it with slight variations.
You need to establish which of your records can actually be substantiated in original registers.

Hello Kinkon
Where did you get the information that your family were baptised at Llanfair Waterdine?
Looking at the original parish registers for the parish on Find my Past there is not a single entry for the surname ELLIS throughout the entire register.
Bearing in mind that it is about 20 miles between Ludlow and Llanfair Waterdine, which would take about 5-6 hours to walk, it begs the question as to whether it was actually physically possible to be in both places on the same day unless they were going to stay overnight on each trip.
The only direct connection between Ludlow, Llanfair Waterdine and Norbury that I can see is that they are all in the Diocese of Hereford.
