I have found baptisms for surname HAYWOOD in the 1800s (St Mary's Mucklestone), giving the father's occupation as farmer and the place of abode as Lanko Barn. Does anyone out there have any information about Lanko Barn please.

Since writing the above I have had chance to look at some of the original parish register baptism entries for HAYWOOD in Mucklestone and I note that at least one uses the spelling Lanco Barn instead of Lanko Barn.
Doing a search on Google for Lanco Barn produced "Lanco Barn - United Kingdom" which took me to a page stating that it is next to Pipe Gate. Looking at Pipe Gate on Bing maps and selecting Ordnance Survey Map at the top left of the map image then zooming in until the map changes to 1:25,000 scale (field boundaries are shown) you will find Lanco Barn named at map reference SJ 747 409.
Going back to the Shropshire Gazetteer and searching for Lanco produced:-
Lancer Barn (or Lanco Barn), 1½m. SE of Woore.
Careful examination of the map will reveal that there are several buildings at this location and that the Shropshire - Staffordshire county boundary (following a water course) passes through the group of buildings with one large one in Staffordshire and all the remainder in Shropshire. Your HAYWOOD relatives are stated to be from 'Lanco/Lanko Barn this parish' so presumably from the building in Staffordshire but only a check at the site might resolve that.

Mucklestone is in Staffordshire so you need to find a good gazetteer for that county.
I have checked the Gazetteer of Streets, Roads and Place Names in Shropshire but there is no trace of Lanko Barn.
One other point, can you find the place name mentioned in more than one entry to make sure it has been written down correctly?
