Hi

I am researching the wife of William PROPHET b 1837 Mucklestone - son of Aaron and Martha PROPHET - other siblings George , John and Martha.
I have worked out that he married Jane JONES b1837 Kinnerley.

However, I am bit stuck. I have some photos on glass and I think it's her.

Thanks in advance

Hello

I presume the marriage you have found is the one at Loppington on 25th Feb 1867 when they both gave Burlton as their residence.  Her father is shown as Edward JONES Blacksmith in the marriage entry.

Is there any text on the photographs to help identify them?  Have you tried a newspaper search to see if the marriage gets a mention?  Do you have any other photographs which you know are her that you can use for comparison?

Thank you Mike - yes that was the entry I had assumed was the marriage.

I wanted to find more about the JONES family, it's for my elderly aunt who has the pictures.

The photos are dated 1865 and 1864 I will give her a call and see if there are any other clues.

I am not too worried if I can't name the photos etc but a bit of history on the JONES would delight my aunt.

Thank you for your reply and time

Hello

I am rather worried by your comment, "that was the entry I had assumed was the marriage".  It is either the correct marriage or the wrong marriage.

How many of their children have you identified and which ones do you have precise information about, like date and place of birth and/or baptism?

Hi

I apologise I didn't have all the paperwork when I wrote my post to hand.

Yes I have a copy of the marriage certificate for William PROPHET and Jane JONES.

  • They were married on 25/2/1867
  • Both residence Burlton
  • William PROPHET is a joiner and Jane JONES is a spinster
  • Jane JONES' father Edward JONES is listed as a blacksmith
  • Witnesses - Rob and Elizabeth BAKER

I would like to find out more about Jane JONES and her father Edward JONES

According to 1881 census Jane JONES is born 1837 Kinnerly

Any help gratefully received - I am in Cornwall

I am posting these photos on behalf of Jane1919

Possible to read pub sign with a magnifying glass 'Cross Keys'.
I have a very distant memory of a place called Knighton in Shropshire.

Looking at the background, I don't think this is the same pub.
