My 6th Great Grandfather is John Talbott who was reportedly buried in Sheriffhales in 1819. I can't find a record of his burial. Can anybody confirm this and what the headstone says.

Hello Mark. Happily the SBI covers Sheriffhales even though now in Staffs.

I cannot see an entry matching your information, trying various variants on the TALB** theme. I have searched by year, looking also for nearby Salop parishes. The nearest are:

John Talbott, Pave Lane, 10.1.1822 aged 19;

John Talbot, Pave Lane, 28.9.1829, aged 10.

Perhaps the burial was at a nearby parish in Staffs. For any such the Staffordshire Burials Index might help. Try the BMGSH site or even Google the name of the index - that might give a short-cut.

As you will see under Online Resources above there are five Talbot MIs recorded. None for Talbott. These might be checked out for you soon, but perhaps not until next Thursday.

I thought so. I have a fiche edition of Sheriffhales MI and could not find him in that.

He was marrried in Eccleshall and his children lived and died there but I can't find him buried there either.
