I've found a couple of newspaper reports in the Wellington Journal referring to John JARVIS as a conjurer well known on Coalpit Bank, also known as Jacky Hairy. He married Catherine DABBBS in 1847. Has anybody got any more information?

I am a descendant of John Jarvis via his son Issachar Jarvis baptised in 1847 at Wombridge. Issachar subsequently moved to Featherstone, Yorkshire near Pontefract, and where he married a member of the Hobbs family. Both families worked as coal miners. I have a copy of the article (in the Wellington Journal) about the Dabbs and Jarvis families in the Court of Petty Sessions in Wellington for 11 JUly 1857, Would anyone have any further information and/or articles about John jarvis and his family? I think the father of JOhn Jarvis was a Joseph Jarvis of Wombridge, the family probably originating in Preston on the Weald Moors some 5 km north east of Wellington.

Thanks
