Does anyone know whether there were hiring fairs or mop fairs in Shropshire for Agricultural labourers and dairymaids etc? I am not aware of any but woud be interested if anyone has any infrmation.
If you can locate a copy of 'The Local Historian's Encyclopedia' originally by John Richardson then it includes quite a lot of dates and references about fairs for the whole country including many for Shropshire. It also includes masses of information about a whole rang of subjects.
It was originally published in 1974 and I believe the format may have changed since my copy was published in 1981.
